Internet Marketing Secrets For Your Business

by: Zachary Thompson

You’ve got an Internet business and you’re ready to be successful. Here are some Internet marketing secrets to help get your site noticed and sell your product.

Use proper keywords. When listing your site with web crawlers be sure to use the best keywords for your product or service. If you are unsure about how to set up keywords you may want to hire an experienced Internet marketing company to help you. Keywords are the ways your site will be listed in search engines so don’t skip this important step.

Design a professional looking web site. People are more apt to buy from companies that look the most professional. If your website is sloppy or doesn’t function well it’s doomed. Hire a professional web designer to ensure that the website looks good. Keep the pages and navigation simple and don’t use too many graphics, which can be too slow for some connections.

Always place purchase or buy now buttons on the pages of your web site so they are easily accessed. It’s amazing how often you will come across a web site that makes you hunt for buying information. With so much Internet competition just a click away always ensures that the customer can make a purchase if they want to.

Include easy access to company information on your web site.Even if your business doesn’t have a physical location you should have a toll free number where customers can easily reach you. Post this number on your web site.

Use competitive pricing. Remember to continuously monitor the competition to be sure that your pricing is not too high (or too low).

Give buyers a special incentive by adding a bonus product onto the deal for free. This gives the customer more reason to buy from you and gives them an additional product.

Use give-aways to get your name out there. For example you could offer a free pen or mouse pad (or any other item) to each person who signs up on your site. Of course the item will be personalized with your company logo and information.

Use pay per click (PPC) or sponsored advertising to gain more exposure. This type of marketing strategy is often very successful and won’t drain your advertising budget.

Use articles to get your company name recognized. Articles are a great way to use free marketing. List articles that are related to your business on article submission sites. You can include your web address at the end of the article so people who read the article can find your site.

Offer free articles or ebooks on your site for your customers. Change your content often so that people will want to come back to get more information.

Subscribe to a newsletter. New tips and tricks are constantly being found to make Internet marketing successful. Get the latest tips and trends sent right to your inbox.

Use lists to set up specialized marketing emails. Collect information from users who visit your site. These visitors have already shown an interest in your product or service so it may pay to send them additional marketing bulletins.

Variations Of Software Programs

by: James Brown

Consumers are enthralled by the software installed in electronic devices because these programs allow them to be more productive and provide them with a source of entertainment that is suitable for every member of the family. Some electronic devices will not work at all without the software installed, and others work better because the software programs have been added since the device was bought.

People are more familiar with the software programs that run their personal computers, but other digital devices are equipped with software. The operating system software is the controlling force behind all computer operations, This software allows the user to perform independent tasks using word processing software programs, or includes software that will allow the user to complete complex mathematical calculations using formulas in spreadsheet formats.

The operation of this type of software is independent of any other type of custom software that has been installed on the computer. Many computer users must install software that allows them to view videos and graphics. These software programs are easy to download but will require update to be installed from time to time to keep the software program running smoothly.

The software updates are written with scripting software that simplifies updates by creating screens that are presented in an easy to understand language that requires the user to click a few buttons and step back while the software does the rest of the installation on its own. Other software is embedded into the installation program that will notify the computer user that the installation is complete. In most cases, the computer software will require that the user restart the system for the changes to go into effect.

Some customized software programs will be created for businesses to track inventory or provide a certain service to a client or the public at large. Some computer operating systems work on the Windows platform and other software program are open source and can be edited by users who know the coding used in the software programs. These programs can be modified by each user and uploaded to the site where it was obtained so that other users can benefit from the changes that were made.

People prefer to use open source software because it is available for download through internet websites. The open source software is considered freeware and is the product of computer users who have a talent for creating programs that enhance productive tasks found in other software or the software could be scripts that make mundane tasks tolerable and easier to complete. Some programming artists create freeware to establish a web presence and build a business from software popularity.

The software programs installed on electronic devices allow people to connect to the internet and the user will have all the tools and storage space required to download files from a computer at work. The PDA devices contain software that will also allow users to check email and store it for future reference. Some personal digital assistants are equipped with software that allows people to access maps and obtain directions to a desired destination.

10 Creative Uses for Ecards

by: Chris Robertson

Ecards were once only sent for fun and as special greeting cards, but now online users are finding many creative ways to maximize the benefits of ecards. Ecards are practical, easy to send, and even free or very low priced. So what exactly are ecards? Ecard is another word for "electronic card" and describes any digital postcard or greeting card that is sent by e-mail.

While many e-card services are free, some providers offer custom e-cards for a small fee. Both free e-cards and paid e-cards are created online using sophisticated, interactive graphic software. Let's explore 10 creative ways to use e-cards.

1. E-card Memos for Companies

Companies once delivered memos in print or by fax, but today many are turning to the use of e-mail, especially those with an intranet system in place. Employees each have their own company e-mail. E-cards can be used to send out creative memos to employees. These creative ecard memos can boost morale, remind employees of an event, instruct employees on a daily task, or even give praise for a job well done. The good news is employers can customize the ecards and send them to all employees at once or to only a select few.

2. Birthday E-cards

Birthday e-cards are great for sharing a surprise "Happy Birthday" message to your friend or loved one. You can create a custom e-card for their birthday based on their personality and you can even set the date for the e-card to be sent on their birthday in advance so you won't forget! Birthday e-card messages can be personal, humorous, lovely, or romantic. They can even play music.

3. E-cards for Weddings and Anniversaries

For weddings and anniversaries, there are a number of e-cards to fit your style. These can be sent on the wedding day to the bride or groom as a relaxing gesture. They can be customized with unique themes to reflect the type of relationship enjoyed by the couple. Anniversary ecards can be customized with the date of the wedding and number of years married.

4. E-cards for Holidays

Holiday e-cards can be customized with themes for Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Halloween, and so forth. You can find musical ecards that play Christmas songs or romantic Valentine's Day themes. For Halloween, send a spooky one! For Thanksgiving Day, send a "thankful" ecard with fall colors, pilgrims, turkeys, or harvest themes.

5. Mother's or Father's Day E-cards

For Mother's and Father's Day, customize e-cards with your own photos. You can also create e-cards with your own special designs. If you sign on for paid e-card services, your recipient will be able to print the card as a keepsake. If you have kids, get them involved in creating these special keepsake ecards.

6. E-cards for Kids

With adult supervision, kids can create e-cards of their own with puzzles, special effects, images, and photos. They can send these to their grandparents or other relatives, or even to their friends. Puzzle ecards are usually included in paid packages, but there are also many special effects and images to choose from with free e-card services.

7. Invitational E-cards

E-cards can also be used in place of mailed invitation cards. You can send printable e-cards to invite friends and loved ones to birthday parties, holiday parties, weddings, company parties, summer grill-outs, and other special functions. They're much cheaper than mailing out invitations, and you can always mail a few to those who don't use e-mail.

8. Friendship E-cards

Send an e-card just to say a quick "hello" to your friends. You can send notes of encouragement, funny ecards, and a variety of themed e-cards to let them know you're thinking of them. Some of the themes to choose from include animals, congratulations, friendship, missing you, love, flowers, cute animations, destinations, landscapes, and many others.

9. Note of Thanks by E-card

E-cards can also be used to send a note of thanks to friends or loved ones. Perhaps you received a gift and want to return thanks. You can also create e-cards as a "thank you" note to clients if you own an Internet business or a business with e-mail contacts.

10. New Baby E-cards

E-cards also come with great themes for new babies. Send a boy or girl themed e-card or unique themes such as animals with their younglings or storks carrying a baby. You can write a message of congratulations to the new mother and customize the card with love.

With e-cards, you can send messages quickly through e-mail for almost any occasion. Best of all, you'll save time and money. You won't have to spend countless hours writing out cards and envelopes. You won't have to pay for postage, and you'll avoid numerous trips to the post office! Free e-cards and paid services are definitely worthwhile for greeting cards, messages, memos, and more!

The Psyched Up Addict Of Online Gaming Technology

by: Jon Caldwell

As most know, a Casino's House Advantage is always very high in any casino gambling game and this includes Blackjack. There are, however, those players that step up against the house with strategies that will lower the house's edge and increase their own. The most common of these strategies is card counting and the player that can dominate this strategy is called an Advantage Blackjack player because they switch the advantage odds to favor themselves.

Traditional card counting is a very technical strategy that takes a lot of skill and discipline to master. Being able to keep track of a shoe of cards holding six, seven, eight deck of cards, sometimes even more, is something a person needs a keen mind for in order to succeed. These hard system players still know, however, that no matter how much skill a person can have, Lady Luck is not always on their side and rough times will come. The fact that they know this keeps them in control and prepared for the storm and enables them to ride it out. They know that if they hold themselves to their system, in the long run, they will come out on top. This makes them responsible gamblers that are prepared for every type of circumstance.

But, like everything that exists, the hard system has a similar "easy" system that mimics its tactics to give the player the upper hand without having to spend all the amount of time a regular advantage player would spend learning an elaborate card tracking system. These so called EZ systems instead offer something that can be taught and learned in a few hours. These EZ systems base their technique on the same card counting principle but focus only on the key cards of the game. Since the rest of the batch is not considered the system becomes significantly easier to master. This system can be a double edged sword, however, for the player that wishes to dominate it because it tricks people into thinking they are now as good as the semi-pros and that is just not so. Although this system does increase the player's advantage it will never be as good as the harder system that works more in the long run than the easy system does. Also, the EZ system fools people into thinking they can now start winning the fortunes and lead them to make foolish bets that would have otherwise not been made and therefore makes for irresponsible gambling if the person is not well prepared.

by: Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933

Let’s test your knowledge of important topics such as SYN attacks and VLANs for your Cisco CCNA, CCNP, and CCENT exams, as well as the CompTIA Security+ and Network+ certification exams!

CCNA / CCENT / CompTIA Network+ Certification:

Host A and Host B are in the same VLAN. Host C and Host D are in a different VLAN. Host A sends a broadcast. How many other hosts will receive it?

A. Zero

B. One

C. Two

D. Three

Answer: B. The other host in the same VLAN, Host B, will receive it. Broadcasts are not forwarded to other VLANs.

Security+ Certification:

Briefly describe a "SYN attack".

Answer: The intruder will generate a series of SYN requests, and the soon-to-be-victimized network device sends a SYN-ACK in response. The device then waits for an ACK, but that never comes. These unfinished connections result in the network device not being able to accept SYN request from legitimate network hosts, since its buffers will be overwhelmed with the false (and unfinished) requests.

CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam:

If an IPv6 address begins with "FF", what type of address is it?

A. broadcast

B. unicast

C. multicast

D. MACcast

Answer: C. That's a multicast. There's no such thing as a MACcast. But there should be. ;)

CCNP Certification / BCMSN Exam:

Short answer: What interface-level command takes a port operating at L3 and places it into L2 operating mode?

Answer: switchport. To change the port back to a routed port, use no switchport.

CCNP Certification / ISCW Exam:

Short answer: You're going to write a policy map that will be applied to a Serial interface running at T1 speed. By default, how much bandwidth can you assign in that policy?

Answer: The speed of a T1 line is 1544 kbps, but by default only 75% of that bandwidth can be distributed in a policy map - that's 1158 kbps (1544 * .75).

Teleseminar How-to Guide: The T-Profit System. A Review

by: Elisabeth Kuhn

Teleseminars seem to be all the rage these days, and for good reason. They're a great way to build lists and make money, both for the organizers and their guests. They're also really great for creating a connection between audience and expert, a connection that has two-way benefits.

If you've been wondering how you could possibly get in on the action, wonder no more: Filmmaker Andy Duncan (of "I Need Cash Now" fame) and his business partner Steve Roye have put together the T-Profit System, the ultimate step-by-step how-to guide for putting together a teleseminar series that delivers the goods, for the audience, your JV-partners, and yourself.

You may have thought you could never do that. You may not think of yourself as an expert. You don't think you're very witty. Heck, you may be shy! But Andy and Steve will quickly reassure you that neither exceptional wit nor fame or even expertise is required. Even better, teleseminar are among the easiest and most inexpensive products to produce. What's not to like?

The T-Profit system consists of a total of eight MP3s, along with PDF transcripts, plus live Q&A sessions.

First, there are the four instructional MP3s, in which Andy and Steve present the basic formula. They give some background and how they themselves got started. They talk about the reason why teleseminars work as well as they do. And then they launch into the details of exactly how you can go about putting together your own.

BTW, "instructional" may not be quite the right word for those MP3s. Yes, you'll learn a ton - as promised. But they are so much fun you sure won't feel like you're studying terribly hard.

Just in case you're still intimidated, they provide you with three examples of teleseminars with experts who themselves were new to the teleseminar genre. For two of them, that very teleseminar you'll be hearing was their very first. And yet, they sound like old pros!

As mentioned above, the MP3s also come with transcripts, and many of them have outlines as well. A bonus seminar, produced as a bonus for one of the example seminars, is included as well. It's a terrific introduction to affiliate marketing by Erik Stafford, also known as the Faster Webmaster.

Here's yet another thing that makes T-Profit System special: included in the price are three bonus coaching calls in monthly intervals (actually, there was a fourth one that took place right after the system was launched, for all the early bird sign-ups), where Steve and Andy will answer any questions that come up.

And I really mean ANY questions. Andy and Steve are incredibly gracious and helpful. I've asked a few really basic questions, and Steve walked me patiently through all of my challenges. He did the same for other callers. They didn't even laugh!

I bought T-Profit System the minute it came out. Why? I loved Andy's "I Need Cash Now" program, and also did Andy and Steve's 4 week coaching program. I got so much out of the two programs, I felt the T-Profit system was a complete no-brainer.

And that even though I believed that I already knew enough about teleseminars from the coaching program (and I did know a lot!), this program actually delivered even more details and step-by-step guidelines, thereby greatly reducing the intimidation factor, and greatly increasing the potential for success. I also find that I learn best when I get the same info presented several different ways.

Considering that I was a total web newbie about 6 months ago, I keep finding myself absolutely astonished by how far I've come. I have multiple websites, blogs, I've already come up with a concept for a series of teleseminars, and I have even done (and uploaded!) my first interview. Look for more on all that in the near future. For right now though, you may want to check out the T-Profit System, so you'll get in on the live coaching calls while they last.

Why It’s Crucial To Have A Dedicated Server

by: Stu Pearson

A dedicated server is a single web server or computer on the internet that hosts websites and shows pages as viewers request. A dedicated server is within a network of computers, exclusively dedicated to one costumer or a large business, since it can meet many needs.

Dedicated servers are most commonly used in the web hosting industry; hundreds of sites are hosted under one dedicated server. A dedicated server is considered to be the next step on from shared hosting environments. Having your own dedicated server makes you free of worry about other websites slowing you down or crashing your server. Dedicated servers also give you total control, and allows for installing software on your website that opens doors for gaining extra performance.

The advantage of having a dedicated server is that the clients of the server can customize both hardware and software setup so they meet needs like faster data access and effortless accommodation of traffic on the site.

These dedicated servers come with good costumer service. The web host works with the client in making sure that the dedicated server meets the needs of the client. In cases of companies having several divisions like a chain of outlets, it is still crucial for each to have their own dedicated server because they can create many domains on a single server easily, which results in more efficiency rather than having to lease host space on different web servers for each division or outlet individually.

For large companies having websites for every dealership such as motorcycle manufacturers, the advantage of having a dedicated server is that the parent company can put all of the websites for each dealership under the same server.

Here’s how it works. Assume a company named “Taurus Cars Corp.” is running a series of dealerships, the parent company could host an individual website for every dealership. Each website may look like this; for the parent company “www.taurusmotorscorp.com”, for the dealership in Florida “www.taurusmotorsflorida.com “, for the dealership in Colorado “www.taurusmotorscolorado.com” and so on.

The advantage of this setup is the dealership in Florida is using the same online tools as the dealership in Colorado. Making the online presence of the company Taurus Motors Corp. very streamlined and cost-efficient, while making things significantly easier for the company’s administration and support, also known as customization and uniform of point of sale software. Considering the websites of each of the different divisions or dealerships residing on one dedicated server, makes this advantage beneficial in terms of increasing sales.

In some cases other business want to use dedicated servers for the sole purpose of customization, costumer service, and fast access. They host websites themselves or better yet sub-lease the extra space for interested companies to set up their websites and domains. The advantage derived by any business under a dedicated server is the ability to enhance security.

All these advantages imply that dedicated servers are the best option for most large companies or businesses. Hosting personal websites or small business websites in general doesn’t require a dedicated server, instead for this purpose you can lease from a standard web host.

Acquaint Yourself With Computer Printers

by: Mack John

A computer printer is a device used for printing text or images on hard copy stored in electronic form, generally on physical print media like paper. Printers are designed to support both local and network connected users simultaneously.

Nowadays, modern printers can directly interface to electronic devices like digital cameras. Some printers that come with non printing features are commonly known as Multi-Functional Printers (MFP) or Multi-Function Devices (MFD). It integrates various functions of multiple devices into one. Such types of printers are extremely useful for small businesses and home offices.

As opposed to a traditional printer, a multi-functional printer is a combination of devices like Printer, Scanner, Photocopier, and Fax Machine. Likewise, there are numerous other types of printers widely available in the market. Let’s take a look at them:

Laser Printer: A laser printer works in a similar fashion as a photocopier does. It has a roller which is charged with electricity. A laser beam is passed to remove the charge from portions of the roller. The parts hit by the laser are powdered by the toner which is then transferred from the roller to the paper. Finally, the ink is baked into the paper with the help of a heater incorporated in the printer. People generally prefer laser printer because of its ability to give high quality output and high speed.

Dot Matrix: It has a print head that moves across the page. A dot matrix printer produces characters using a cluster of pins which press an inked ribbon to the paper, thereby creating a dot. Each character is made in the same way. Dot Matrix printers are relatively cheaper and durable. These qualities still attract businesses which use them as invoice printers.

Ink Jet and Bubble Jet: It works in a manner similar to a Dot Matrix Printer. However, its print head sprays liquid ink onto the page instead of pressing a dry ink against the page. Ink jet and bubble jet printers are better known as predecessors of laser printers. They produce better image quality and run faster.

>From inkjets to monochrome and color lasers, different printers are designed to accomplish different tasks. Companies like DELL, CANON, LEXMARK, BROTHER, EPSON, and HP HEWLETT PACKARD are most preferred when it comes to buying a printer. Nowadays, computer printer support is widely available on the Internet which saves you from taking it to any expensive technician for troubleshooting.

New Hope for Domain Parking

by: David Doggett

Domain parking has had a bit of a bad reputation, and rightfully so. Most parked domains are setup with a domain registrar and they are the ones who end up making most of the income from clicks on your parked pages, that is, if your parked page gets any clicks at all. In truth, the domain registrars are likely only interested in making money from your domain name registration.

I have been intrigued with the domain parking concept however was discouraged until recently with the potential of parking my domains. It is true, almost all parked pages are shunned by the major search engines because they lack any quality content and are simply filled with ads. Simple logic told me that if the search engines are not interested at all with parked pages filled with ads, and this means the chances of people finding my parked pages is slim to none.

Thankfully there is new hope for parking domains with rich content parking systems, for example the one I now use, WhyPark (http://cyberflash.whypark.hop.clickbank.net/). These domain parking systems don't just set you up with a page full of ads and forget about you, they provide you with simple tools that let you create rich content websites full of relevant articles that search engines love. This is the most exciting development in domain parking history because it means anyone can create a quality web site containing your own advertisements that you earn all or most of the income from.

This revolution in domain parking opens the doors for anyone interested in creating powerful websites and capitalizing on their income potential.

While it is possible to invest just twenty minutes of your time setting up a domain with one of these rich content parking systems, the more time and effort you invest in promoting your domain, the more traffic your domain will receive in turn increasing your domains earning potential.

Check Your List Twice, For Spyware

by: Doug Woodall

This season, if you have receive a new computer or new software, check em for the gifts you might not know about. Many computers come with bundled software that includes Adware, Malware and even Spyware. You may not find it until you launch the software program. It may give you a message that says it needs to connect to a site to complete the registration. Make sure you read the entire license agreement.

I know of many stories about how a user had to do a complete restore on their new computer just days after getting it. These stories involve the user spending hours on the phone with customer support trying to resolve the problem. In previous years, Dells customer support has been swamped after the holidays with calls from new users asking for help. Before you get online with the new computer, insure the AntiVirus and Firewall is functioning. The computer will probably prompt you that it needs to get updates. Check what the update is before agreeing to the install. Make sure you get the MS updates needed too.

If after all this, you still don't know which updates or installs to agree to, there are help sites that provide assistance.

Check the products site first, they may have customer support or even a Forum.

Visit Spyware Warrior for a list of rogue/suspect Anti-Spyware products and web sites.

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Test your Firewall at Hacker Watch to make sure you're able to block attacks.

http://www.hackerwatch.org/probe/

If you're unsure of a process thats running, check it at UniBlues process library.

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/

These are just a few of the help sites out there, there are many excellent sites that can help you.

If after all the searching, you still need help, I recommend the Major Geeks Help Forum.

http://forums.majorgeeks.com/

It will involve you registering and downloading the Hijack This program, running it and then uploading the log results to the Malware Forum there. They are good people there and will help you get your computer happy.

Think you've got it covered? Do the “How safe are you” quiz at Stay Safe Online.

http://staysafeonline.org/basics/quiz.html

Also a point to ponder. If you're giving instead of receiving, make sure what you give is safe and reliable.

Don't forget to create a restore point and maintain backups of important data is my last bit of advice.

So after the gift giving, after the clean up, after the nap on the couch, check your computer to insure your online safety.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

How to create Screensaver from Flash movie?

by: John Dell

Have you ever thought your Flash movie would make a great screen saver? This tutorial will show you what you should do to create a colorful full-featured SCR screen saver with great visual effects from any SWF project.

Complete the following steps to create a screensaver:

1. Open SWF Maestro SCR. If you do not have it, you can download it at http://tools.allflashtools.com/SWF_Maestro_SCR-review-140.html

2. Click New to create a new project.

3. Open "General Screensaver name" settings and specify the name for your screensaver.

4. Open "General Version info" settings and specify version, company and copyright info.

5. Open "Files Files for compilation" settings and specify a SWF file you'd like to turn into the screensaver. You can also specify a directory if your SWF project loads data from other files (XML, JPG, MP3, FLV, etc.)

6. If you want to set your own icon for the screensaver, specify it in the "Files Screensaver icon" settings.

7. Open "Files SWF Player" settings and specify the Flash player requirements.

8. Open "Files Final screensaver" settings and specify where the screensaver should be saved.

9. If you want to add a 'settings' menu for your screensaver, specify it in the "Screensaver Settings menu".

10. If you want to create an "interactive" screensaver that will terminate on ESC key or other key combination, use the "Screensaver Termination conditions" settings.

11. You can also setup the context menu for "interactive" screensavers using the "Screensaver Context menu" settings.

12. Use the "Screensaver Installer" settings if you want to generate an installer for your screensaver. An installer is the user-friendly and comfortable way to distribute the screensaver. Once started, it will automatically install the screensaver on the user's computer and enable it. If the user would suddenly like to remove the screensaver, he can easily do it using the uninstaller coming together with the screensaver.

13. Click Save to save the project.

14. Click Preview to preview the screensaver.

15. Close the Preview window and click Compile to compile the screensaver.

To install a screensaver in the system, just copy the compiled SCR file (including the DAT file if you choose to pack files separately) to the System32 subdirectory of the directory where the Windows operating system is installed. If you want to create an installer for your screensaver, complete the step 12.

There Be Spyware Here, Captain!

by: Doug Woodall

The ships bell had just sounded the dogwatch as Captain Skag
began to check his email. He had just began to read his
favorite E-zine, "Pirates gone wild" when his first mate
burst into the cabin. "Captain, a dark ship approaches!"
He cried.

The captain, after running up on deck, examined the ship
with his spyglass. "Shiver me hard drives" he bellowed as
he saw the lay of her jib.

"Shes a wardriver! " (Note of historical Interest, a
Wardriver is a term used to describe a way of searching for
unsecure wireless networks.)

"They be after plundering information on the ships server!
Quick me mateys, prepare to repel boarders." The crew
scrambled to turn their laptops off while the Captain rushed
to turn the wireless router off.

Up on deck, the crew watched as the dark ship faded into the
night.

The Captain had no sooner settled back at his computer when
again the cabin door burst open, this time it was the cook.
"Blimey Captain, all my recipes files are gone!" This was
bad news because the cooks famous secret recipe for chile con carne
was highly sought after since winning 1st place at the
Pirates ball last year. Thank the Kraken we have our
backups" the Captain growled. The cook, cursing, left.

Well, back to my email the captain thought. He pushed the
send/receive button on his email client. "Blow me down" he
bellowed, (Pirate Captains bellow a lot) "Whats all
this SPAM mail doing in my inbox?"

This was getting as back as a case of scurvy.

As he sat, his rage boiling, he became aware of a lot of
yelling coming from the crews quarters. "Now what" he
cursed as he made his way forward. Upon entering the crew
area he was assailed by a thunderous din of curses. (Pirates
curse a lot)

The Spainiard was yelling he couldn't get his new game,
"Pirates Revenge " to load. The Italian couldn't get into his stock portfolio.
(Yes pirates have retirement plans too). The others were
drowned out by the first mate yelling about his Blog being Hacked.

As he surveyed the carnage, the captain noticed one of the
crewman sitting calmly, using his laptop with apparently no
problems. Bellowing loudly for quiet, he asked the crewman
who he now remembered came from the land of Unix, why he was
not upset.

He looked up, and said "Why Captain, I've got a AntiVirus
program along with good AntiSpyware and a reliable Firewall. I'm
protected from brute force attacks, Phishing emails and
drive by downloads." He went on to say that it looked like the ships
server was accessed through the wireless router, which was not
secured with WEP (wired/wireless equivalent privacy).

"Arrrgg", he bellowed, the IT dogs back at the Island
hideaway had told him all was peachy with the network when
they sailed to pilage and plunder.

The crewman whose name was Billy said he could get things
ship shape by giving the other crewman the CD's of his
AntiSpyware, AntiVirus and his 3rd party Firewall.... for a
price! "Aye," the Captain replied wit a feeling of dread,
"Whats your price?"

Soon all onboard were back online and secure. Billy had his
pockets stuffed with pieces of eight and of course, was
wearing the Captains hat, looking mighty pleased with his
bargaining skills.

The Captain headed back to his cabin, worried that mutiny
may be afoot. He had heard Billy telling the crew about those
cursed Macs!

The lesson learned here was obvious; You need to secure your
network. AntiVirus and AntiSpyware is a must, So is a
reliable Firewall. Anything less, you might as well be
walking the plank, Matey!

Arrrrgggg!

Free Spyware Removal Software - Why Use It?

by: Raymond Johansen

I guess most of us have been bothered with spyware infections once or more. Nobody likes that their computer become slow because of them, and nobody likes to pay a huge pile of cash just to get rid of them either. In this article I write about a great spyware removal tool that is free. What you get for zero bucks could sometimes actually be a whole lot.

When people get infections into their home computer, many are not aware of the existence of such threats. They just keep on working with their slow running computers until they stop almost completely. Some ask friends or relatives with a little computer experience to take a look at their computer. Therefore I will try to explain the importance of having protection, and how to get something that works.

Through the two latest decades we have seen computers eventually come into our lives, and that we use them more and more, and integrate them to become more or less a necessity in our homes. But, when internet was made public in 1990 we also began to see more and more of all the problems that came along with it.

An experience that I've had often is, when a system was near a breakdown, the problems was very often caused by a massive infection of online threats. Today we know them as spyware, adware, worms, trojan horses or viruses. They crawl up your cables and into your system, and when they become many they start competing with eachother for the available resources.

This will cause the computer to slow down, and when it eventually comes to a complete stop, the number of nfections will be too high for the computer to handle. All the power you need to do your stuff will be unavailable. An overrun system is of no real value to the user, because there are virtually no resources left to run real programs. This computer system has also become a real danger to privacy.

A good security tool could get rid of these bugs. I recommend that you have three basic types of security software installed on your system. Number one is a firewall protection. This will help prevent hackers from breaking into your system. Number two is a good antivirus solution. This keeps viruses, worms, trojan horses and often other types of threats away. Number three is to have a good spyware removal tool, because these threats are the most common ones today. They spread between computers like wildfire. Some of them are even made to steal your private information.

A quality piece of security software would protect you from various types of threats. But no software will make your system total immune, and a combination of different pieces of quality software is always preferred.

No matter what, it is always better to atleast have somekind of protection software installed, rather than nothing at all. So you might need to look for some you too. A good place to do this is online. This is because you simply get the fastest delivery and the best prices. But you have to look carefully for it.

I need to alert you about a new type of threats that is spreading around the world these days. A bug slips into your system, and almost instantly pops up with a warning about a "system error" from something called "Security Center" or similar. You should pay attention to this kind.

They infect you in the first place, then they want you to purchase a remedy for their disease and other types of infections. But most of them don't get rid of anything but the warnings, and even slips more bugs into your computer. Sneaky don't you think?

There are alot of software and solutions to choose from. Some are expensive, some are cheap, some are good and some are worse. They vary as much quality as they vary in price, and the most expensive ones are not by far always the best ones.

Infact there are actually spyware removal software packages that will protect against several categories of threats, and it will even clean up your computer's registry. This feature alone is a good way to increase the computers speed. I know about a really great tool that will do all this for you, and even for free.

This package does unfornately not include a firewall protection, but if you are running Windows XP there is a good firewall included in this operating-system. Just go to the control panel, and then to the Windows security center to activate it. It works great, and you should definately turn it on if you have it in the first place. This firewall in combination with the totally free spyware removal tool we provide on our website, you'll suddenly have a nice protection.

If you see the point of being protected for free rather than not protected, I have met my goal. Take care, and secure your computer properly. More information about this great free tool is to be found at our website.

Protecting Children Online With Internet Parental Controls

by: Kelly Hunter

The World Wide Web is a fascinating place. It has obliterated geography in terms of education and business. It facilitates learning by allowing kids to see things and experiences aspects of different places they may never get the chance to see in the non-virtual world. The Internet can bring people together who otherwise would never know each other and create a virtual universe that is totally cohesive, with every kind of information imaginable literally available at your fingertips. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, the Internet has a dark side. It is full of material that is inappropriate for children and all kinds of predators. Leaving your kids alone to fend for themselves on the Web is exactly as dangerous at leaving them in a crowed airport or shopping mall. You don’t know where they’re going or who with. The news is filled with horror stories about kids who have been taken advantage of on the Internet, but you don’t want yours to miss out on all the positive aspects of the technology. The first line of defense in keeping your kids save on the Web is to teach them how to use it safely.

A lot of online dangers can be dodged simply by reminding kids of one of their earliest learned lessons: don’t talk to strangers. The kinds of people who want to harm kids have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves. They may try to lull your child into a false sense of security by pretending to be someone she knows. Make sure your child understands that it isn’t a good idea to give out personal information such as their address, phone number or the name of their school. The less information a potential predator has, the harder it will be for him to actually locate a victim. It might be a good idea to establish a secret password and share it only with friends and family so your kid has a way to identify people who are safe to chat with.

Chat interfaces and instant messaging are great tools for keeping in touch with friends and conduct business, but they are also direct connections between your child and possible pedophiles and other predators. Most instant messengers have settings that will only allow people on a pre-approved list to approach your child. That way you can let the kids chat with family and friends while keeping the bad guys out. You can visit http://www.internet-parental-control.org to find more information on online child safety measures.

You can’t watch your kids every minute they are online, and you can’t always count on them to do what you have taught them to do. Parental control software is a great back up. Most browsers will allow you to customize age-appropriate settings for each child in your house. You can choose what kinds of Web sites you want your kids to access and block them out of the ones you don’t. It’s a great way to provide a virtual safety net for your family. If the parental controls supplied by your Internet Service Provider, check into installing additional software that will evaluate each site your child attempts to access. You set criteria by which the software judges each Web page and assigns a rating, much like a movie rating. Your kids will only be able to look at sites with ratings you have deemed appropriate.

How To Browse The Web In China When Your Favorite Sites Are Blocked

by: Jimson Lee

If you want to see the differences between Google’s top level domains, try Google’s Image search from 2 different URLs:

images.google.com
images.google.cn

Type in the Search box: “Tian'anmen Square massacre” or “Tian An Men Square massacre”. Ironically, this translates to “Gate of Heavenly Peace”.

Convinced?

It is well known that in China, certain websites like BBC and CNN are blocked. But you can get around it by use of a Proxy Server.

What is a Proxy Server?

A Proxy Server services requests from clients by forwarding requests to other servers.

If you are computer “C”, and you want to access server “S” but it is blocked, point your client’s web browser to Proxy Server “P”.

So C -> P -> S

An example of such a site is www.kproxy.com (ignore the pop-up windows) but if you search the web for proxy servers, you can have a list of thousands. Some are even more specific on what services you want enabled or disabled, such as removing JavaScript, enabling cookies, or displaying images.

As long as your network connection’s ISP isn’t blocking the Proxy Server, you can get access to those sites. And some get creative by using another standard HTTP port 80. Ports 8080 or 8081 are the most common, so you would enter proxyserver.com:8080 for the URL.

Circumventor Proxy server

A Circumventor is a Proxy servers used for defeating blocking policies implemented by an organization or country when “censorship” blocks access to certain sites. Of course, having a known list of proxy servers beforehand would be really helpful if you are planning a trip to such countries with censorship.

Anonymizing Proxy server

On the other hand, if I was an employee and wanted to check out my competition without them tracking my IP address, then this is an example of an Anonymizing proxy server.

An Anonymizing Proxy server is the correct term for the purpose of anonymity and is an alternate way using your AOL dialup account. Besides, you want to take advantage of your high speed Internet connection, don’t you?

Reverse Proxy Server?

The reverse holds true with a reverse proxy server. Your corporate firewall may have a proxy server where everyone’s internal computer points to a central proxy server, and that server goes out and services requests.

Pros: it does speed up surfing for users, as it caches web site information and images from previously searched sites. It would also reduce the traffic, as the information is already stored and no need to go the destination site again. As well, the proxy server adds an additional level of security next to your corporate firewall.

Cons: your company can track every site you surf, and how long you stay on that particular site. Not good if you spend all day checking your hockey pool stats, or surfing questionable sites.

Open Proxies

Caution should be taken as Open Proxies are usually abused for sending spam or even hacking into your own machine. You have no idea what is on the server, including keystroke trackers to capture your keyboard input. So the next time you enter your user ID and password on one of these open proxies, think again.

I hope this sheds some light on ways to get around censorship.

Online Reputation Management

by: Jak Smith

Within days of registering our new website www.reputationfixer.com we were contacted by large and small companies as well as individuals, who had suffered from a negative search result on Google. One caller described how his reputation was being threatened by an article written over 15 years ago which had recently reappeared in a search for his name. He is concerned that when his job performance is under review, this derogatory news item could serve as a basis for dismissal or hamper his chances for advancement.

His concerns are well founded. It has become common practice for people to surf the web for news and information about people, places and companies. Researching new products and services is commonplace. It is expected that a prospective employer will conduct a thorough online search of any serious candidates for employment. Google has become the online manifestation of Orwell's imagined "Big Brother". If the algorithm has dealt you a bad hand, it is best you learn how to confront it rather than hoping it will disappear by itself.

As a service to the companies and individuals for whom a search yields negative results, or may suffer from this precarious condition in the future, we offer insights into the world of online reputation management.

You are Not Alone

With the advent of bloggers, RSS feeds and web sites, anyone can define a person's or company's identity and challenge a website's reputation and integrity. The rise and expansion of consumer generated media offers the public an opportunity to express their views. And this is being done at an unprecedented rate. People are expressing their views unabashedly, often with no regard for the consequences of what they are writing, and with little for concern for the veracity of their comments.

The more a product, brand or company is exposed to public attention and scrutiny, the greater the likelihood that someone will want to challenge its reputation. This can include dissatisfied clients, customers and competitors, who may have legitimate complaints or rumor mongers and vindictive web site wizards, whose sole purpose is to challenge another website's integrity. For example, 29 of the Fortune 100 Companies have at least one negative postings when "Googled". These postings range from bad business practices and discrimination, to accusations that companies are connected to paramilitary death squads.

Negative postings are not only surfacing on large or even medium corporate search results. Stories, rumors and press accounts that date back a decade or more are also traumatizing ordinary people. Seemingly innocent pranks and mischievous adventures that college students may have engaged in, have appeared in top positions of search engine listings seriously damaging their reputations, careers and lives.

You Can Take Charge

Combating the tribulations of a negative Google listing means taking charge of the search results that come up for your name, company, etc. If left to the vagaries of the search engine's algorithm, you can easily fall victim to the whims of arbitrary conjecture, opinions and rumors. When you decide to take charge, you need to confront the search engines in a proactive and forthright manner, rather than adopting a passive or defensive posture.

Online reputation and search engine optimization professionals will tell you that it is no longer an issue of "if" you should be managing your online reputation, the question is "how" you should be managing it. And don't assume that just because you are happy with the results of your own personal search today, that situation will continue indefinitely. Being on guard means:

1. knowing that the situation can turn against you and
2. having the ammunition to combat the rumor mongers when they strike.

Like the proverbial lawyer who, when deciding to represent himself, discovers has a fool for a client, most people, even those who are comfortable in the world of the internet, are not competent to deal with the major league players when it comes to online reputation management. When you are up against a challenger that has Google on its team, you don't want your teammates to be from the minor league, even if they can boast a relatively high batting score.

Working With a Pro

Successful ORM, focuses on having sufficient links to blogs, articles, press stories and allied web sites so that when a search is run for your name, all of the material you have positioned appears. The problem starts when a stubbornly entrenched negative press story or blog, appears on your page, and it overpowers all of the listings you have put in place, how do you dislodge it?

That's when working with a pro makes a real difference. The team at Reputation Fixer has an aggregate of decades of hands-on experience in working in the Google environment, managing successful web site optimizing campaigns in fiercely competitive markets dealing with the complexity and unpredictability of Google's algorithm. Reputation Fixer is the major leagues when it comes to ORM. They are the kind of teammates you want when your reputation is at stake.

Measuring Success

Regardless of who actually manages your ORM campaign, what is required is distribution of positive content and strategic participation in online discussions which results in the creation and posting of positive content on your site. A successful search engine reputation management program ensures that those looking for information about you or your company will see favorable content wherever your name or your company appears as search results.

Review on Ewen Chia’s Super Affiliates Membership Programme

by: Tim Ng

If you ask me why Ewen Chia’s Super Affiliates Membership Site is the must-have site for all affiliate marketers, I can go on and on to rave about its benefits. Ewen has always over-delivered but this time, he has really gone out of the way to make you a success.

I first met him at Sheraton Towers in Singapore and he made a casual remark that he was going to start a membership site that would genuinely assist people in making big fortunes from affiliate marketing. Ewen was concerned of the number of people being scammed too often online by programmes that promise lots but deliver little.

Well, Ewen Chia has truly gone out of the way this time round to create this Super Affiliates Membership Site. The amount of sharing done by him was phenomenally astronomical. I am truly impressed after subscribing to the programme.

Ewen Chia literally shows you exactly how to start your own internet business, so that you're fully up and running, dumping cash into your bank account if you are willing to take action from his coaching sessions. From Ewen Chia’s own words, “Affiliate Marketing is your license to print money on demand - anytime you want.” Encouraging words indeed and he means it.

Most importantly, Ewen Chia is not just going to transform you into a normal affiliate. He is going to turn you into a Super Affiliate with his Super Affiliates Membership Site.

Let me give you a summary of what Ewen has made available in his site:

a. The exact steps to get started, from choosing your domain name to setting up your hosting to setting up your "office admin" stuff to setting up your autoresponder to automate your business - this covers everything!

b. All the details behind his no-brainer simple system to build you a super affiliate business rapidly that'll put your competition to shame!

c. How to dominate markets from the inside out, and build a reputation that'll grow your profits for years.

d. Proven strategies for finding, selecting and "stealing" profitable markets - right out from under everybody else's nose!

The above are just some of the promises that Ewen made and I am a vouch to these that they are duly delivered.

For example, I made use of Ewen Chia’s video tutorial to revamp my website and learn some tricks in getting Google Spider to consistently rank your website high among its search results. It works!

The best part is, you'll also receive a monthly expert audio training and also real live case studies. We all know how valuable that is as rather than just dump you with all the information leaving you to dissect for yourself, case studies will allow you to see exactly what is right and what is wrong. And you'll be able to learn exactly what the super affiliate Ewen Chia does and master what the other super affiliates do as well.

Lastly, you'll also receive a mystery instant business-in-a-box. That alone is worth the membership cost alone as you get a full up and running business every single month you remain as a member. You'll be able to earn back your investment many times just with the business-in-a-box alone!

Now that you have read my review on Ewen Chia’s Super Affiliates Membership Site, it’s time you take massive action to subscribe to this really fantastic programme. I guarantee that you will become a super affiliate in no time if you follow Ewen Chia’s strategies and take massive action.

How To Avoid The Google Sandbox

by: Pete Moret

There still is a lot of discussion going on wether the Google Sandbox exists or not. Some say it exists, some say it doesn't. Just pretend it does exist, how is it possible that some SEO's don't get hit by the sandbox filter?

First of all, let me explain to you what the Google sandbox is. The sandbox filter is a filter that Google uses on keywords with high search volume and high competition. The whole mindset of the filter is that new website go in some sort of quarantine so they don't rank high in the search engine result pages of Google. This quarantine could take from several months to a year. This was originally introduced to block out spam websites. Before the sandbox filter was born, as a spammer you could make a website, spam Google with it, get banned, and instantly make another website and get your original ranking in Google back again. But with another domainname. And because Google isn't really fast in giving penalties and bans it takes a couple of months before the new domains get caught. This was easy money making in those days! But not anymore, because now the Google Sandbox filter will solve the problem!

But that doesn't mean we're really stuck to that filter. We are optimizing for search engines, and the sandbox is part of that, so there is a solution.

Only new domains trigger the sandbox filter. So a solution may be to buy an old domain name, or if you already have one, use an old domain name. But this is often really expensive and it doesn't always fit your needs. But there is a solution for that: DeletedDomains.com. On this website are domains that come available the same day. Just search the age of some of the domains with the Archive.org wayback machine, and if you find an old domain, you can buy it at a hosting company for as little as 15 bucks. You can also take a look in Google to see if the website on the domain is still indexed in Google, that fastens up the process a bit. It doesn't matter what domain you choose, the only thing you have to do is to 301 redirect the domain to your main domain. Then you have to hope your old domain get's indexed again so Google will know that the domain moved permanently to the new location. This will give you all the linklove of the old domain and you get the age of that domain. So you can easily build your website and gain high rankings without any sandbox restrictions.

There is another way that I used. I had bought a domain, but didn't use it at the time I bought it. I had plans for it but for the future. So I put a page on the domain, with a few backlinks to get it indexed, and a year later I started using the domain for real. But I could begin right away because the domain was already a year old!

This last one isn't really a way to avoid the sandbox but it happens a lot that you buy domains to use in the future. It isn't hard to get like 20 backlinks to it just to be out of the sandbox at the time you really want to start your website.

Video Streaming – Who Needs Television?

by: Scott Lindsay

It was a satisfying feeling when I happened upon a website recently that told me that a band I have always enjoyed are back together after they disbanded a few years ago.

This group had been performing for 30 years to capacity crowds. Then came their farewell concert tour and everyone thought they would only hear about this group in the context of history and decade specific countdown shows.

Today two of the original members are touring on a limited basis. The overall feel of the band is a little different than the original band, but it is compelling enough to reconnect with the career of this new, yet classic, band.

How do I know this? Did I read about it?

No! This information came in the form of a fifteen-minute video stream with the two principle artists in the band. They spoke candidly about the reformation of the group and the new simplified sound and direction. They spoke of the emotional difficulties they experienced when the group went their separate ways and how a one time performance promised by the duo set the stage for a new album, tour and renewed life for this respected band. Stats counters indicated I wasn’t alone in my enthusiasm for this new career wrinkle.

Video streams react to an on-demand generation. You can visit the websites of news organizations and watch video streams of the news you want to see. In some cases this is viewed as an extension to television news coverage, but for some this is an on-demand replacement for television newscasts. Even newspapers are responding to the on demand world and placing supporting video streaming on their websites for those interested in a more personal take on the morning news.

Forbes.com and a host of other websites provide comprehensive news coverage through video streaming and their marketing strategy is to let it be known that this coverage is news on demand and online. These companies are not seeking terrestrial stations to send their video streams to, they are relying consistently on online video streams – and their success continues to grow.

News reporters who once had a place on terrestrial television are now finding uncommon success in online news reporting. Elaborate sets are designed (or created through the use of green screens). These online video streams bring the same newsmakers you might find on regular television into your home and on your time.

Many of these video streams are made possible through the sale of typical video advertising that precedes the actual video clip, which makes the end product free to the online user.

The growth of video streams is impacting national and international news, business forecasts, entertainment and music.

What may be the most surprising is those who may have wanted to share information via television in the past are now more than content to take their message directly to the people and allow them to watch at their convenience. Many are wondering why they would want to make video available any other way.

Many visual consumers are inclined to agree with the sentiment.

Ecommerce Defined

by: Jimmy Mayon

In its simplest terms, Ecommerce or E-commerce or eCommerce – how ever which way the word shows up, is an interchange of goods or commodities (products or services) that is very similar to any kind of commerce that exists. It differs from the other types of commerce such as foreign commerce and domestic commerce on only two attributes. One, ecommerce can be both accomplished on foreign and domestic scales; and two, it accommodates every kind of trader, from those trading in small, medium and large scale businesses, to those in micro businesses.

Foreign and domestic commerce both happens on a large scale basis. Foreign commerce is between different countries, while domestic commerce happens with business entities between different parts of the same country.

Ecommerce is a fusion of the words “electronic” and “commerce.” This basically means that all transactions happen over the electronic systems like the Internet or other computer networks - a good example of which is stock brokering, where most of the transactions from bidding to selling can happen via computer links inside and outside the stock markets.

The word “ecommerce” has existed way before the Internet, busting the idea that this type of commerce existed only on the onset of the World Wide Web. The fact is that the original ecommerce or electronically charged commerce was first introduced on the onset of commercial billings over the phone lines and the automation of teller machines. Therefore, any form of business transaction that happened using the wires – phone lines, telegraph line, machine based transactions, etc. – were once considered ecommerce. Even when the Internet became accessible to the public, the term “ecommerce” was not immediately associated with it. That is, not until the development of HTML processes where business transactions became viable as a form of trade.

Trading over the Internet has grown dramatically over these last few years, especially since there have been innovations when it comes to the different aspects of transactions. Advancements have been made in the field of automated data collection systems, automated inventory management systems, electronic data interchange (EDI,) electronic funds transfer, Internet marketing, online transaction processing, and supply chain management. Although almost all modern electronic commerce now uses the Internet as a vantage point of all transactions, other technologies are also put to use, such as e-mail marketing or “virtual” marketing.

This sudden boom in ecommerce has apparently given the global vocabulary two new words that are now coming into active play. These are references to online retailers (e-tailers / etailers / Etailers / E-tailers) and online retail (e-tail / etail / Etail / E-tail.) Therefore, ecommerce is generally considered to be the sales aspect of any e-business / ebusiness / Ebusiness / E-business.

There are many forms of ecommerce in the contemporary world, everything from ordering “digital” content for immediate online consumption, to downloading postal stamps for printing, to ordering conventional goods and services for home delivery, to “meta” services to facilitate other types of ecommerce. In some cases, ecommerce companies tend to survive because they offer services not usually associated with many other businesses not web-based. These services are often customer related (people based services) and / or those that offer technical assistance.

With some ecommerce companies, however, organizational assistance to individual companies is being offered. These services include the completion of network infrastructure, post sales services, staging a competent management team, staging a well-organized business structure, staging a well designed but secured website.

Staging a well designed and secured website is know generally known as web development.

Must Know Shopping Tips For Internet Faxing

by: Phil Anderson

There are more than a few reasons why virtual faxing is recommended for most users. In fact Internet fax is growing into a multimillion industry where virtual faxing services are now offered worldwide. Conventional fax machines are old, expensive, and some what inefficient in modern days like now. Imaging you have a service that requires zero to low start up cost, great working mobility, easier fax management, and more over, a service with better reliability – would you be switching to this service from the stale facsimile machine? You bet!

The service I am talking about is Internet faxing service

Internet faxing in brief is a web application that allows you to send and receive faxes via Internet. Also known as virtual faxing, Internet fax uses IP networks to transmit fax data instead of the conventional PSTN. E-mails are normally used as the medium in commercial Internet faxing services.

Explaining the Email faxing service in detail might be a very tough job. However, there is nothing much consumers need to learned in order to implement the Internet faxing technology into their business. In brief, Internet faxing is a service that enables you to send and receive faxes without using the fax machine.Instead, faxes will be transmitted in digital form via the Internet. Sent (or received) in Email attachment, Email faxes can be read and organized in both soft- and hardcopy.

What can Internet fax service do for you?

While faxing is an indispensable communication way, Internet faxing turned out to be a better choice against conventional fax machine. Instead of causing problem like paper jam, extra phone line cost, cuts off page text, and fax transmission failure; Internet faxing offer faxing solution with cheaper operation cost, easier 24/7 faxing, greater mobility, and of course, no more paper jamming.

Internet faxing requires very low start up and operation cost. You can actually estimate to save 50 – 70 % startup cost when compare with conventional faxing machine. To use Email faxing services, all you need is a computer with Internet connection and an active Internet fax service account. As the PC is a must for any kind of business nowadays, theoretically the account subscription fees is the only extra pay for using Internet fax. When comparing with conventional faxing equipment such subscription fees are extremely low as they normally ranged from $10 to $20 (depends on your level of usage).

Mobility is another selling point for Internet faxing services. All you need for sending Email fax is just a PC with Internet connection and an Internet faxing account – this enables you to send faxes in anywhere, anytime.

Answering the 'who' question

So who are the reputable merchants in Internet faxing services? If you are shopping for one, these names should not be stranger to you: eFax, Fax Away, MyFax, Virtual Fax, and CallWave Virtual Fax (new service).

Now shopping for Internet faxing might be confusing with so many merchant, there are, nevertheless, lots of great deals available online. The smart thing to do is, of course, check a few reputable ones and pick the one that suits your faxing needs best.

Across America and around the world countless numbers of these people are turning their dream into a reality. One of those is one of the most important potential problems of today and the future. That is the issue of identity theft.

When you are operating an online business, you spend many hours on your computer doing the things necessary to build your business. Quite frequently this requires you to do business with and/or contract with other companies for various reasons. This can sometimes open you up to exposing yourself to privacy issues. At the end of this article, I will reveal to you probably the best step you can take to securing your identity.

An identity thief takes your personal information and uses it without your knowledge. The thief may run up debts or even commit crimes in your name. These 10 tips can help you lower your risk of becoming a victim.

1. Protect your Social Security Number

Own a paper/document shredder as part of your business. Shred or tear up papers with your personal information on them before you throw them away. Shred credit card offers and other mail you receive that might have your personal private information on them.

3. Use caution when clicking around the Internet

Before entering credit card or other personal information on any web site(especially if you are new to it), read their privacy policy. See what your opportunities are to opt out of sharing your information. IF there is no privacy policy posted, BEWARE!. Do business somewhere else. When you do enter personal information, enter it on secure Web pages with “https” in the address bar and a padlock symbol at the bottom of your browser. Scam artists disguise themselves as legitimate businesses that you do business with like your bank, stores, eBay, Paypal, government agencies and such. Tactics include phone calls, emails, regular mail, and others asking you to verify personal information like account numbers and passwords. Don’t respond unless you initiated the contact. Legit companies do not ask for this sort of information in these ways.

5. Control your personal financial information

Limit where you can, the sharing of your information between companies and/or their affiliates.

6. Opt-out of pre-approved credit card offers

Many pre-approved credit card offers are simply ploys to make your information an easy target to gather.

7. Check your bills and statements

Open these items when you receive them in the mail. Reconcile right away and look carefully for any unauthorized charges or withdrawals. If you don’t receive these in the mail, call to find out why in case anyone has changed your contact information.

8. Protect your computer

Computer viruses and spyware can compromise your privacy. Use the appropriate security software. Make your passwords difficult for others to guess. Don’t click on links in spam email.

9. Check your credit report

This is one of the best ways to protect yourself. Monitor your credit history. You can get a FREE credit report every year from each of the three national credit bureaus.

10. Ask Why

Whenever information is requested from you that seems inappropriate for the transaction you are making, ask questions. Ask how the information is going to be used and if it will be shared. Move on if you feel the answers are unsatisfactory.

Beware of this Domain Appraisal Scam

by: Brian Holland

I recently received several e mails from domain sellers who had fallen victim to a domain appraisal scam. The scam starts with a mail the seller receives concerning a domain they own and the scammer showing interest in buying it.

The scammers find information about their targets on Ebay and on Whois.

In the first mail they tell you that they are a new player wanting to invest money in the domain market as a side business and inquire how much you want for the domain.

Next step is the mail in which they accept your asking price for the domain. The scammers tell you that they want you to get the domain appraised as they don’t want to make a bad investment. The scammers want the appraisal from a certain manual appraisal website which they believe to be a good one, ofcourse this appraisal website is part of the scam. This appraisal website gives a highly inflated appraisal value and asks a high fee for it ( up to over a hundred dollars) as they know you need the appraisal to sell the domain.

The end of this story is that once you have mailed your appraisal you never hear from your buyers again. leaving you one hundred dollars poorer and an absolutely useless appraisal richer. This is a very cunningly operated scam and to show you how such a scam mail looks i give you a real example of such an email below.

Email 1:

Hello,

We ‘ve found your domain name listed for sale..

If you are still interested in selling please send your quote and I will

consider it with my partners.

Main direction of our business is software development and technical

support.

Domain names is not our business but a new way to earn on reselling. We are

going to buy domains to resell them at higher prices since we have a large

database of clients interested in good domains.

Looking forward to do business with you.

Regards,

Email 2:

You want 13,500 USD. Ok.

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

If it’s just the name it’s ok. A web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domains appraised already? Can you show me your valuation certificates? As far as I know it’s a common practice to show appraisal of domain name (even without traffic and web site) before doing business.

Without an appraisal I risk to overpay. In other words I won’t be able to make a profit on reselling this name. It’s very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domains.

Of course, we must be sure that you are engaging an appraisal company with REAL manual service. I heard many appraisal companies often made inaccurate auto-generated appraisals. I will only accept appraisals from independent sources I trust. To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies in a forum. (they now give you a link of a forum you have to check out)

Just check this posting.

If the appraisal comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. I also hope you can give me 10 discount of the appraised value.

After I get an appraisal from you we’ll continue our negotiations.

How do you prefer to get paid: Escrow.com, PayPal.com check or wire?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

So if you ever get an email like this, you know what to do. Scrap it. Just remember this wise saying that if something sounds too good to be true it probably is.
